Olympic Peninsula Strait Shooters Monthly Shoot

We shoot on the third  Saturday of every month at Jefferson County Sportsmen’s Association, 112 Gun Club Road Port Townsend, WA  98368

Directions to Range      

From Port Townsend:
Go south on Sims Way (SR 20) to Jacob Miller Road.  Turn right on Jacob Miller Road.  Go about 4/10 mile, turn left onto Gun Club Road.  Go appx. 100 yards to the end of the pavement and turn right into the gate.

From Hood Canal Bridge:
Travel west on Hwy 104 to Beaver Valley Road (SR 19).  Go right on SR 19 (sign says to Port Townsend) and go about 9 miles to the traffic light in Chimacum.  Continue straight on SR 19 about 5 miles until it merges with SR 20.  Go straight on SR 20 almost 2 miles to Jacob Miller Road.  Go left on Jacob Miller Road.  Go about 4/10 mile, turn left onto Gun Club Road.  Go appx. 100 yards to the end of the pavement and turn right into the gate.

From Port Angeles and west Olympic Peninsula:
Travel east on Hwy 101 towards Discovery Bay.  Turn left on SR 20, go about 7 miles to the junction of SR 19 and SR 20. Turn left and continue on SR 20 towards Port Townsend almost 2 miles to Jacob Miller Road.  Go left on Jacob Miller Road.  Go about 4/10 mile, turn left onto Gun Club Road.  Go appx. 100 yards to the end of the pavement and turn right into the gate.

Our matches generally consist of six stages.

Entry fee is $10 per shooter. Junior (14-16) , Buckaroos (13 & under) shoot for no charge. 

Set up starts 8:30 Saturday. Shooter sign-in starts 9:00, shooter’s meeting 9:50 and the match begins at 10:00.

Eye and hearing protection are required for all shooters and spectators.

Ammo needed will vary, but generally each shoot will require 60 pistol rounds, 60 rifle rounds and 25 to 35 shotgun shells (No larger than #6 lead shot. NO STEEL SHOT!). (Remember to bring some extra if for some reason you may need to reshoot a stage)

Our shoots are based on SASS rules, with the exception of our Double Deuce (22 rim fire) class in which the shooter uses a 22 caliber single action six shot pistol (or two 22 caliber single action pistol), and a 22 caliber lever action or pump rifle (with exposed hammer) and any SASS approved shotgun. The Double Deuce class may be entered as a shooter’s only class, or in addition to a shooter’s primary class (in which case an additional entry fee is charged)

We also offer an Open Class. This is an opportunity for a shooter to shoot twice in the same match. All SASS rules apply except shooters are not divided into age classes or shooting styles. All open shooters are competing with all other open shooters. Open class is offered in addition to a shooter’s regular class (for an additional entry fee).

Shooters with disabilities will be accommodated as best as possible, keeping their safety and the safety of their fellow shooters in mind. Disabled shooters may compete in their regular class, or in the class called “Stove UP Cowboy.

Olympic Peninsula Strait Shooters does not require membership in either SASS or Olympic Peninsula Strait shooters.
